If you want to sing in a lively community chorus,
If you’re looking for a chorus that mixes choral staples and newly commissioned pieces, socially relevant music and seasonal concerts, come sing with us. Grace Chorale of Brooklyn adds new voices to the chorus each year.
If you have a passion for choral harmony and are interested in expressing yourself through singing, come to one of the informal auditions in early September or in January prior to the concert seasons. Nominal sight reading always helps, but good pitch and a good ear are the most important!
If you have a bass, baritone, or tenor voices, you’re in high demand — but if you’re a soprano or alto, of course you’re welcome as well.
No special preparation is needed for the audition. We take our singing seriously, but do so in a relaxed, collegial, and playful atmosphere.
The audition times for the 2019-20 season will take place between 6:30 and 7:00 pm on September 11th, 18th, and 25th
If you would like to audition, please complete our online application HERE and one of our Membership Committee members will get back to you confirming your audition date and time. The introductory note to the form explains the process. Alternatively, you can email us at: email@example.com
Auditions take place in our rehearsal space at Grace Church, 254 Hicks St. in Brooklyn Heights, which can be easily reached by subway: the 3, 4, 5, F, R and M.
Rehearsals are held at 254 Hicks Street, Brooklyn Heights (at Grace Church) on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 9:30 with one 15 minute break with refreshments. For rehearsals to run smoothly and be productive, it is important for all members to arrive on time.
The cost of dues is $136 per semester (each season comprises two semesters, fall and spring) which includes the purchase of the musical scores and three tickets for guests. Dues should be paid by October 15th for the fall semester, and by February 15th for the spring semester.
GETTING THE WORK DONE
A lot goes on behind the scenes to make rehearsals and concerts a success. Everyone is asked to do his and her part in making the organization successful, creative, and fun. There is no paid administrative staff, so we will on occasion ask chorus members to contribute their unique expertise and time as needed.
